Mar Teres Tea Room
Mar Teres is one of our favorite “ladies (and gentlemen) who lunch” places. One may be inclined to lift one’s pinkie delicately in the air while sipping the famous almond tea amid fine china and linens in this mid-century cottage. With more than sixteen years of serving up such comfort food as gumbo and chicken spaghetti, owners Teresa Stokes and Margaret Purke have perfected their menu and their warm hospitality. We were delighted by an unexpected special of creamy cilantro soup and chicken enchiladas. This is not the place to skip dessert; we couldn’t decide between the bread pudding with rum sauce or the brownie bottom pie with hot fudge sauce, so of course we opted for both.
