With five locations in the Dallas area, Mesero has enjoyed great success with a proven concept of serving elegantly plated, sophisticated Mexican food in a modern setting. Each location has something unique to offer; this time, we headed for the Knox/Henderson location for an easygoing brunch. We started with a menu favorite, the shrimp ceviche—not your usual lime-drenched seafood served in a cup but hefty chunks of marinated tiger shrimp and avocado mixed with slices of heirloom tomatoes and freshly chopped jalapeños, green onion, and cilantro. We didn’t leave a drop. Then, opting for huevos rancheros instead of our favorite enchiladas, we knew we had a winner the minute we broke the egg yolk and watched it run over the top of the spicy ranchera sauce. We also ordered the brisket tacos, which pack a huge punch with their slow-smoked meat folded into corn tortillas with a layer of tangy tomatillo sauce and a sprinkling of chihuahua cheese.
