Flanked by two sunny patios (one with a kids’ play area), casual Millie’s offers stick-to-your-ribs seafood and sandwiches and makes a welcome addition to the Oak Forest neighborhood. It’s popular with families and singles who gather for happy hour. Order this to go: A large portion of the menu is devoted to fried items, so prepare for a quick warmup in the oven at home. Fish and chips (ample for two) tasted bland, but the fried shrimp was nicely spiced and came with a side of palate-cooling coleslaw. Two thumbs up for the jumbo lump crab cake, a wonder of fresh, snowy white crab sans breading. Also good catches: a thick filet of char-grilled salmon and the redfish crowned with crab, capers, and lemon butter (though its sautéed veggies sidekick was overcooked). Pro tip: Promoting a contactless experience, Millie’s requires that all ordering, including for onsite dining, be processed through the Roovy app, which you’ll have to download on your phone. Note that a 10 percent packaging fee is added to takeout orders pre-tip.
