On the ninth floor of the Thompson Dallas hotel, inside the National building downtown, Nine brings a clean, minimalist aesthetic and a quiet elegance to morning and midday meals. The lunch menu consists of starters, salads, and sandwiches, all expertly conceived and constructed. Order this to go: The smoked-turkey Cobb salad with bacon vinaigrette is simple, tasty, and a good traveler. Sandwiches come with your choice of house-made kettle chips, salad, or fries; we liked the prime rib French dip with Gruyère and the blackened fish with ginger-kale slaw. There are vegetarian options as well. Pro tip: If you’re up early, breakfast starts at 7.
