Dining Guide

Nonna Osteria

With the closing of Il Sogno, this downtown restaurant (one of the Silo group’s venues at the historic Fairmount Hotel) has become our new go-to for authentic Italian. Its attention to detail makes the most of simple but superior ingredients, notably house pastas (including a good gluten-free) and luscious sauces (oh, that lobster ravioli with pancetta and tomatoes). Chef Luca Della Casa, Italian-born, balances his menu between standards (think family-friendly pizza) and more unusual offerings (like arancini and an octopus-and-potato salad). The well-run dining room is actually rather romantic, with vintage-inspired fixtures, beautiful stemware, and big windows looking out on Hemisfair park.
