This local eatery has long been a vegan venue and community hub, offering sponsored meals for those who need them, plus an opportunity for patrons to plant their own favorite fruits and veggies in the communal farm. Now, thanks to chef Roman Wilcox’s appearance on HBO’s Big Brunch, One Grub is a hot spot, with lines made up of El Pasoans newly on board with the self-proclaimed “planty people.” Vegan or not, you’ll love the brunch chilaquiles with house-made tostadas and red, green, or mole guisados and the cashew-based chile con queso that dazzled the Big Brunch judges. Meat-less menudo comes alive with wood ear mushrooms, and desserts such as lemon and carrot cake are made with plants grown on-site. All gratuities go to the pay-it-forward meal program.
