Are food halls the future of our Houston foodscape? It appears so with yet another one, Politan Row, now open in Rice Village. Born in Peru, chef Masaru Fukuda offers a concise menu that sports imaginative ceviches and sushi rolls. Best bites included the grilled octopus with huacatay sauce, choclo (Peruvian corn), and purple potatoes. Our favorite sushi roll was the elaborate Pacha, with luxurious layers of shrimp tempura, tuna, avocado, mango, and bonito flakes—the whole kitchen sink. The Picante roll was almost too spicy (tuna, mango, avocado, and a fiery wasabi vinaigrette) and served too warm.
