This family-run place at Mockingbird and Abrams is yet another purveyor of Nashville-style hot fried chicken. The crust is moderately crunchy, the meat is tender and tasty, and the heat levels run from “naked” to “napalm.” Also on the menu: catfish, shrimp, sandwiches, street tacos, salads, and kids’ meals. Order this to go: The fried chicken traveled well, as did the catfish, maple baked beans, “porch corn” (a grilled cob, elote-style), hearty chicken salad, and excellent banana pudding. Pro tip: It’s not all fried—oven-roasted chicken (as well as grilled shrimp) is available as well.
