With a focus on takeout and patio service, this former food truck opened a permanent location on the east side of town during the height of the pandemic. While breakfast has long been Paperboy’s strong suit, the lunch offerings are equally rewarding. Order this to go: The kale salad not only serves as a superfood option but delivers on a delightful range of flavors and textures with sautéed chickpeas, roasted sweet potatoes, crunchy sunflower seeds, and a tender soft-boiled egg; it comes dressed with Parmesan shavings and a tangy basil pesto (we opted to add some rotisserie chicken). Trendy avocado toast arrives in Mexican form as an avocado tostada, with shaved carrot, radish, cabbage, spicy jalapeño, and crumbled cotija cheese. The falafel sandwich makes a more filling lunch option; complete with creamy dill-and-cucumber yogurt, tahini, and a toasted buttermilk bun, this two-hander hits the spot. Pro tip: Ordering online was a cinch, and our food was neatly packaged. Throw in the thick-cut steak fries as a side; dusted with chile powder and salt, they’re finger-licking good.
