Pappas Bros. Steakhouse
Don’t fix what ain’t broke. The new downtown location replicates the atmosphere of its Galleria big brother—clubby, with rich tones, warm lighting, a general sense of confidence, and a healthy dose of earnestness. Perfection came our way in three salads, a classic Caesar, a tossed salad with vinaigrette, and a massive wedge with bacon and blue cheese. Ditto that perfection on three dry-aged steaks—filet, ribeye, and NY strip—seasoned, seared, and glistening. Our seafood options were equally impressive: broiled salmon in white wine butter sauce, topped with jumbo shrimp and crab, and a hefty soft-shell crab, lightly battered and delicately fried so as not to compete with the sumptuous sweet meat, perched on a bed of corn salsa and shredded brussels sprouts slaw.
