Locals look forward to the daily specials at Pat Booker’s cafe. On a lunchtime visit, we took a road trip of sorts, one of us heading south for scrambled eggs, pancakes, hash browns, and both bacon and sausage (and declaring the meal “as good as any diner in Georgia”) and the other north, for a Philly cheesesteak on a fluffy hoagie roll and a large order of onion rings (one of which was reluctantly traded for a bite of pancake). Expect folksy service and chocolate meringue pie for dessert.
