Pondicheri is a go-to place for Indian fare, thanks to its creative menu combinations, casual setting (both inside and out), capable servers, and modest prices. We’re fans of the crisp, tender samosas (stuffed with earthy mushrooms, masala, and paneer) as well as the Madras chicken wings (oven roasted with black pepper, sesame, amchur, and tamarind chutney). Our favorite main courses include the shrimp seared with caramelized onions and tomato and served with upma (a savory corn grits hash) and crispy okra. Don’t even get us started on the rich butter chicken with fenugreek, tomato, and garam masala. Breakfast here is also a treat.
