Rise No 2
The second location of Dallas’s popular Rise charmed us from the get-go, with its cafe tables, birch branches sparkling with lights, and Texas- and Paris-themed tea towels for napkins. We started well with the whimsical “marshmallow” soup, a rich tomato basil with miniature goat cheese puffs, drizzled with basil oil. Three savory soufflés (classic ham and Gruyere, lush crab, and spicy sausage with herbs), perfectly puffed and browned, were delightfully tasty and fun to share. Soufflés aside, a fine six-ounce steak with béarnaise and roasted potatoes with green beans thoroughly pleased our meat lover. For dessert, our waiter cracked the crispy tops of two sweet soufflés and poured in decadent cream sauces: eggnog for one and Grand Marnier for the other. We left feeling a bit fluffed out but happy.
