Pizza is no doubt the most ubiquitous takeout, and Rome’s, a local chain with three locations (the other two are on De Zavala and Potranco), has got it down. All the classics are on the menu, but the new Lone Star offerings include locally inspired toppings like brisket and Stubb’s barbecue sauce and taco-style beef and cheddar. Try this: Start with one of the many salads and a platter of antipasti, then order a couple of white pizzas, like the Tomato Duet (sliced fresh tomatoes, mozzarella, and sun-dried tomatoes) and the Mediterranean Greek (strips of gyro meat, mozzarella, and feta). Pro tip: There is limited in-house dining, as well as curbside to-go and delivery.
