The Rooster Cafe
In the burgeoning Winnsboro Cultural Arts District, just off the main drag, sits the Rooster Cafe, a local bar/eatery with a Cheers meets Mayberry Diner vibe. While we must confess that we were put off by a slight “dirty mop water” aroma, the laid-back attitude of our server at the bar did much to improve our spirits. The corn fritters were interesting, more hush puppy with corn than yeasty fritter, but good nonetheless; we much preferred the accompanying savory dipping butter over the sweet. The pastrami Reuben was filled with a generous portion of lean meat, but the “hand-cut fries” looked more like factory-cut.
