Rosella at the Garden
The Botanical Garden’s Sullivan Carriage House is now home to another location of Rosella. Avocado toast with lemon-citrus butter and an Egg Cloud Sandwich (with prosciutto, arugula, and tarragon aioli) provide sustenance early in the day; then the menu switches to sandwiches and salads, with plays on comfort food like a classic burger with white cheddar and a toasty BKT featuring bacon, kale, and tomato. Served all day, tasty crepes, savory and sweet, fill the gap, while cocktails and nibbles are on the table from late afternoon to happy hour (and beyond), giving a whole new vibe to what was formerly a fairly staid tearoom. While not particularly innovative, the menu has a comforting variety of plates, with nice herbal notes. The kitchen is small, and on an early visit, the staff was overwhelmed by the Saturday brunch crowd, so it’s not a spot for a quick bite (at least not on weekends). But even the wait is pleasant, especially on the spacious patio, with its canopy of elms and oaks and more flowers per square inch than any other place in town.
