Strategically located along the city’s newly installed streetcar system, Savage Goods offers up tasty treats ranging from warm doughnuts to a Ploughman’s Lunch featuring house-made bread with a chunk of Irish cheddar, a soft-boiled egg, and pickled vegetables. We liked the red velvet cake, lush and not too sweet; it paired well with an espresso made from locally roasted beans. But if “dessert first” isn’t in the plan, start with warm bread and a trio of spreads: silky hummus, rich pesto, and lemon-avocado. Follow that with a roasted chicken sandwich, fabulously served on house-made sourdough with sun-dried tomato, creamy provolone, and peppery arugula. A nice craft beer selection and interesting wines round out the menu.
