Tavolo Italian Kitchen
As Tyler is lacking in good Italian food, we had high hopes for this spot (which occupies the space recently vacated by Sonoma Grill). But, sadly, it fell short of our expectations. We enjoyed the bruschetta con pesto (the sourdough bread was a nice touch), but the eggplant Parmesan was lackluster, as was the Parmesan-crusted sole; both were served with garlic mashed potatoes that were thick, dry, and gunky. Our vegan diner was justly disappointed with her salad, as it came with grated eggs and a cream-based dressing. Hopefully Tavolo will work out the kinks and come into its own. The wait staff was attentive in the almost deserted dining room (the bar was much more lively).
