Egyptian-born Rafik Abohattab comes to Houston’s Politan Row food hall with a Mediterranean concept similar to his original, in New Orleans’s St. Roch Market. Dips and classic mezze served with pita are good for sharing; we preferred the beautifully presented labneh with mint and za’atar spice over the hummus and grape leaves. Entrées come with a choice of three sides. Chicken shawarma was nicely spiced, but the hummus was ho-hum and the rice salty and undercooked. There’s a handy central bar in the family-friendly food hall dispensing cocktails, wine, and beer.
