Sometimes we just don’t feel like traipsing to the newest see-and-be-seen place in town, and that’s when we hit a place like this small house on a corner in Uptown, with its interior lighting of mainly neon beer signs and ancient wooden floors that slant and squeak. But be advised that there are plenty of Vuitton bags and button-downs too. A mug of the Tuscan zuppa, a hearty mix of potatoes, carrots, sausage, and kale, hits the spot. And who could resist an entrée like the Pub Mess, a bun stuffed half with brisket and half with pulled pork, plus a side of fries or a salad. No desserts are offered, but there’s an interesting list of cocktails to compensate for that, and there’s seating on a great covered patio from which to watch the street traffic.
