Tucked inside the ghost kitchen complex Fort Worth Food Works, Von’s makes plant-based eating fun. Our breakfast favorite was a spinach tortilla stuffed with vegan sausage, scrambled Just Egg, mushrooms, red potatoes, and shredded “cheese” (those ingredients can also be made into an omelet). The dinner winner was the Naked Vegan Taco Bowl, layering ground Impossible Beef, jasmine rice, black beans, tomato, and avocado atop baby spinach leaves; we only wished for a side of salsa or perhaps a lime wedge alongside. Spicy Fire Roasted Vegetable Soup filled with corn, onion, green peppers, black beans, carrots, tomato, and green chiles was best with a scattering of vegan cheese atop. A superb treat, the CakeShake finds a blend of vegan ice cream laced with caramel and pieces of chocolate cookie, all topped with a tiny cinnamon crème bundt cake.
