Need to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life and go to where you see amazing greenery, lake scenery, and just plain family outdoor fun?  Cedar Hill is the answer!

We are the most OUTDOORABLE place for everything to do under the sun. With more than 36 miles of hiking and biking trails through the city, you are sure to find what you are looking for to enjoy nature and the great outdoors.  Our Cedar Hill State Park is located on beautiful Joe Pool Lake and is one of the most visited parks in Texas consisting of 1,826 acres of rugged, natural beauty that reminds you of the Texas Hill Country. With activities that include fun on the “beach” in the day-use area, kayaking, fishing, mountain biking on the DORBA (Dallas Off-Road Bicycle Association) trails, updated lakeside picnic areas, a mile-long ADA trail for everyone to enjoy, and more than 350 campsites to have fun during the day and enjoy the stars at night.

Dogwood Canyon Audubon Center (DCAC) is the place in North Texas that actively engages people in its conservation through learning and exploration. Rare species of plants and animals from East, West, and Central Texas converge here, making the canyon the only place in the world where one can find the Black-chinned Hummingbird of West Texas and one of the locations of the recently spotted Golden-cheeked Warbler nesting in the best ecosystem the area can offer.  DCAC owns or manages more than 200 acres of pristine wildlife habitat in the canyon, and because the property neighbors county and state lands, it is part of a nearly 3,000-acre greenbelt.

Once you have done some exploring in nature, discover the other ways to enjoy the outdoors with shopping!  Cedar Hill has cornered the market on natural beauty in the Metroplex, but we’ve also built a reputation as the premier shopping destination in the region with 11 retail centers, most within a convenient one-mile radius of U.S. Highway 67 and FM 1382. Shop with national retailers at Hillside Village, our outdoor shopping center, or wander through one-of-a-kind shops and boutiques in Historic Downtown. Either way, it’s hard to believe there is so much great shopping so close to so much natural fun.

Family fun and entertainment is found all over Cedar Hill, whether at a local park (we have 33 parks in the city) or outdoor fun at Hillside Village with the interactive fountain and playground.

Need a reason to visit? Join us for our exciting events during the summertime.  Get your fishing rod and the family together for the June 3 Kid Fish Tournament for kids of all ages.  Cedar Hill Triathlon will be held June 10 for the Kids Triathlon at Virginia Weaver Park and then June 11 for one of the toughest adult run, bike and swim with competitors coming in from all over the country starting at Cedar Hill State Park.  Every Friday is a fantastic way to relax and listen to a variety of music genres in June with live music entertainment in the outdoor amphitheater at Valley Ridge Park for Music in the Park.  Enjoy an all-time favorite fitness instructor, Cassandra Pierson with Shake Body Dance Fitness, featuring workouts that include Hip-Hop, Salsa, Afrobeat, Merengue, and Cumbia to dance those calories away at the Hillside Village HillsideFit events every Saturday in June.

Need to have some adult time after the long days? Grab a pint and relax at the local craft beer brewery at Ash & Ember Brewery or enjoy an award-winning glass of wine in the large outdoor patio at Saviana Winery.

Want to feel more like a local?  Visit the Cedar Hill Farmer’s Market every second and fourth Saturday from May through October.  Discover locally grown goods, bakers, crafters, farmers, and even youth entrepreneurs that have been vendors at the market. The Farmer’s Market is designed to bring the community together, but also showcase Cedar Hill to visitors. The events help support small businesses and inspire creativity in everyone who stops by.

Whatever you are planning to do, be sure to include Cedar Hill in your plan for outdoor adventures!
