Spring time is the perfect time to fall in love with the Falls. Located two hours north of Dallas, Wichita Falls is the perfect destination for a getaway. Our close-knit community offers plenty of activities for every lifestyle. In addition, our revitalized downtown has everything located within walking distance allowing travelers to leave the hustle and bustle of urban life behind.

Spring means strawberry season, and the best strawberries are grown at The Kings Good Vineyard and Berry Farm. Visitors are encouraged to make their way through the acre of strawberry plants seeking out and picking perfectly bright, plump berries. More fresh produce can be found at the Downtown’s Farmers Market where farmers, artisans, and craftsmen converge weekly. It’s the perfect stop after Saturday brunch to take in the colorful produce, local honey, fresh jams, handmade soy candles, hand-tooled leather goods, and more while listening to live music and sampling salsa.

Chocolate lovers need look no further than B Cocoa Artisan Chocolates. Patrons of the confection wonderland can strike up a conversation with chocolatier Brooke Willis who uses her extensive knowledge gained from living overseas to import the finest chocolates from around the world. These chocolates are crafted into her delectable temptations available in bon bon, truffle, bark, and bar form. Her Texas Rita Bite is an irresistible solid bite of her most popular bark and features white chocolate, lime, and sea salt.

Sightseers are encouraged to release their inner child at Maniac’s Mansion. Once visitors step into the one-of-a-kind arcade and toy museum they are beckoned to take a trip down nostalgia lane on meticulously-maintained vintage machines. Then, when hunger strikes, gamers can partake in an unparalleled cereal bar fully stocked with treasured classics and obscure favorites along with various milk and toppings options to create a perfect bowl of cereal.

Outdoor enthusiasts can reconnect with nature on the Wee-Chi-Tah trail, a scenic trail along the Wichita River that has been voted the best urban off-road trail in Texas. After making the 10-foot-climb into the hilltops, cyclists can look out for a breathtaking view of the city. Other obstacles include switchback climbs, punchy climbs, and wooden bridges.

Fox Hill Restaurant.

Foodies will not want to miss reserving a table at Fox Hill Restaurant. The American farm-to-table restaurant is located in a beautifully restored 1922 house on eight acres of land. The terraced and raised beds of the on-site urban gardens supply the produce for the seasonal menu. Fox Hill’s chefs craft the timeless menu around regionality and sustainability.

Another equally exciting dining opportunity housed in a historic building is the Karat Bar & Bistro located in the first Zales jewelry store. Their aim is to bring fresh ingredients and quality food to North Texas. They focus on serving fresh, whole foods and are pleased to offer vegetarian meal options. Diners enjoy locally-sourced dishes that are made from scratch, as well as classic cocktails and an international wine list.

Hook and Ladder.

It doesn’t take long to feel the strong sense of community that is at the heart of Wichita Falls. A business that exemplifies this sense of community is Hook and Ladder, a firefighter owned-and-operated urban winery that specializes in unique wines and single origin coffee. Their artisan flatbread or charcuterie boards can be enjoyed either inside the cafe or on the patios while listening to the countless artists and bands that perform at the venue.

Daytrippers can get their geek on with live trivia at the Wichita Brewing Company. This family-friendly establishment brews craft beers with a rotating taps list. Also located on-site is Progress Pizza, a Progress & Provisions restaurant, that serves up Detroit and tavern style pizzas alongside street food, salads, and small plates.

More adventurous travelers can test their mettle at The Depot Axe Throwing Lounge in one of their fourteen throwing lanes. The exposed brick and carefully-curated speakeasy decor transports sightseers to another time as they sip prohibition-era cocktails while playing a round of pool or shuffleboard.

Live music at After Hours Artwalk.

For art enthusiasts, downtown celebrates the thriving art scene once a month during the After Hours Artwalk. Patrons of the event leisurely stroll downtown while sampling local wine and exploring the art galleries, studios, and booths. Live music can be enjoyed up and down the celebration starting with the spotlight performance at the Downtown Farmers Market.

Wichita Falls has something for everyone to love. With everything centrally-located, travel time is virtually non-existent allowing tourists to focus on what really matters and not getting from point A to point B.
