It’s looking to be a good year for Whiskey Myers. The Tyler band’s blend of riff-heavy Southern rock and Red Dirt country received its best treatment yet on Mud, their forthcoming album produced by Dave Cobb, who’s worked magic with Chris Stapleton, Sturgill Simpson, and Jason Isbell. They’re about to embark on a summer tour with Shinedown, and the rest of the year is likely to see them blow up even further as they take to the U.S. and the UK to show off their chops.
To get warmed up for all of that, we’ve got the exclusive premiere of “Some Of Your Love,” a rollicking rocker that sums up the band’s versatility in a little over three minutes. “If you’ve listened to our records before, you know the collection of songs on any given album is pretty diverse in sound,” guitarist John Jeffers tells Texas Monthly. “I think that’s a really rad aspect of our style—we play what comes out, and ‘Some Of Your Love’ is one of those rock n’ roll tunes that fits us like a glove.”
Mud is out September 9.
