Just a decade ago, it would have been difficult to fathom the number and variety of Asian restaurants that now call Bryan–College Station home. While many are run-of-the-mill, others are well worth a try. Among these newer standouts is Siam Iyara. On a recent visit, the white-and-black color scheme, minimalist decor, and quiet atmosphere of this strip center spot set the tone for phenomenally well-prepared Thai standards. We went with mild massaman curry with tofu and a nice serving of pad see-ew (flat noodles and broccoli) with chicken. The flavors were spot-on, but it was the sheer amount and quality of the heartier ingredients in both dishes that most impressed us. While our entrées were filling, we couldn’t help but order some custard sweet sticky rice for dessert, intending to take most of it home; the ample leftover portion never made it to a to-go box.
