Located downtown, the Black Pearl is a casual, relaxed place geared toward locals and tourists. As the name claims, you will find oysters, oysters, and more oysters, but you will also find other fresh-from-the-Gulf seafood and sizzling steaks. While waiting for a table we decided to belly up to the bar and throw back a dozen deliciously plump, slightly salty raw oysters with an excellent house-made cocktail sauce. Once seated at our table we ordered the New Orleans–style barbecue shrimp, the jumbo shell-on shrimp swimming in a heavenly mix of butter, lemon, beer, and Worcestershire sauce, served with fresh bread to soak up every bit. Fried okra and hand-battered onion rings made for delicious sides. Last but not least we had the red beans and rice, loaded with smoky ham seasoning. Portions are huge and service is fast and friendly. There can be a wait in the evenings, but you can always enjoy a festive beverage at the bar.
