As we get ready for the release of Texas Monthly’s latest edition of the Top 50 barbecue joints lists, we’re taking our beloved annual barbecue festival on the road. Texas Monthly BBQ Fest: Road Trip Edition will feature a series of three Pit Stop events from the Rio Grande Valley to the Panhandle, while celebrating barbecue joints in every corner of the state with Texas Monthly BBQ Week, which features special prices and menu items at more than 60 joints statewide.

When are the three Pit Stop events during Texas Monthly BBQ Fest: Road Trip Edition?
The three Pit Stop events will take place on October 10 from 12-4pm (Tyler, Texas); October 13 from 6-9pm (Wolfforth, Texas); and October 17 from 12-4pm (Brownsville, Texas).
Where are the 2021 BBQ Fest Pit Stop events?
The 2021 BBQ Fest Pit Stop events will be held at Stanley’s Famous Pit BBQ in Tyler, TX; Evie Mae’s Pit Barbeque in Wolfforth, TX; and Brownsville Market Square in Brownsville, TX.
What are the COVID procedures for BBQ Week and the Pit Stop events?
Please follow the local and business enforced safety guidelines for participating restuarants during BBQ Week. For the Pit Stop events, Texas Monthly will be adhering to local guidelines and CDC recommendations.
Will Daniel Vaughn be at the Pit Stop events?
Yes! He’ll be there, so don’t miss your opportunity to mingle with the TM barbecue editor.
What happens if it rains during the Pit Stop events?
The show will go on rain or shine! We have a great rain plan to ensure you’ll get your fill of barbecue regardless of the weather. But if it makes you feel better, feel free to check out Texas Monthly BBQ Fest on Facebook for up-to-the-minute updates about the event.
Are dogs/pets allowed at the Pit Stop events?
No. Only service dogs will be allowed on property.
Are the Pit Stop events kid-friendly?
The Pit Stop events at Stanley’s Famous Pit BBQ in Tyler and at Market Square in Brownsville are for BBQ fans of all ages. Tickets for children ages 6-10 and under are available at a discounted price. Children under 6 are free. However, the Pit Stop event at Evie Mae’s in Wolfforth is ages 21 and up.

Will you accept a debit or credit card at the Pit Stop events?
Yes, the cash bars will accept a debit or credit card. Food will be included with the purchase of your ticket.
Can I smoke at the Pit Stop events?
No. The only smoking going on will be in the BBQ pits. Smoking will not be permitted on the grounds.
Will there be medical staff on site?
There will be public and private security, as well as medical staff on site for the duration of the event. If you need any assistance go to the medical tent, locate the closest security guard, or BBQ Fest Staff member.

Is there a discount for children?
Yes. Tickets for children 6 and under are available at a discounted rate; however you must purchase a child ticket through the online ticketing service to reserve your child’s spot in case of a sellout. See above for ticket prices.
