A sunset sky reflecting off the Guadalupe River, a delicious and creatively plated meal, a delightful staff. One couldn’t ask for more. Starting with the burrata, a simple dish elevated with tomatoes and basil, we got a glimmer of what was to come. Next, the shareable Tuscan Texas Salad—balsamic dressed greens and a tower of grape tomatoes, avocado, blue cheese, and bacon—confirmed it. Root beer–glazed duck breast, filet mignon over truffled mashed potatoes, a rack of lamb with mint yogurt sauce—all left us happily sated. Yet, come dessert time we couldn’t resist the Whiskey Cake, and neither should you.
