Chef-owner Johnny Hernandez says he created La Gloria to celebrate street food from all regions of Mexico, and this location at the Pearl is certainly one of the most festive places in town to find tiny tacos al pastor from Mexico City, rich savory panuchos topped with avocado and chicken pibil from the Yucatán, fresh camarones aguachiles from Sinaloa, bubbling molcajetes of melted cheese and savory meats stews from Jalisco, and more. Breads and tortillas are made at the Hernandez bakery and tortilleria near downtown, the meats are grilled to order, and the margaritas are made with real lime juice—what more could you want? Folk art, colorful murals, and larger-than-life welded statues of mariachis are just made for vacation photos.
