This trendy breakfast, lunch, and brunch place, which opened in late 2022, is turning out some of the most interesting casual meals at the Pearl, maybe in the city. Seasonal and local ingredients spark the menu as it blends Mexican and Texas flavors and ingredients. Designed by restaurateur Ryan Harms and chef Patrick Jackson, the duo behind the successful and not dissimilar Austin concept Paperboy, the cheery and attractive diner offers a sophisticated take on regional favorites: little taco-shell cups filled with refried beans, layered plates of barbacoa and migas, empanadas and other pastries (including a dynamite black cocoa–banana coffee cake that incidentally is gluten-free). Its menu goes from steak and eggs to breakfast enchiladas to Texas hash (the last with pork shoulder at its heart). The kale salad—with its hallmark bitter greens flavor skillfully balanced by sweet potato cubes—made a great winter-season bowl as well as being eminently sharable. Outdoor tables are sheltered and heated, so mildly inclement weather doesn’t keep patrons away. Reservations are strongly recommended, especially when the Pearl’s weekend market is happening.
