Mexican food restaurants are a dime a dozen in Bryan–College Station, so owners struggle constantly to stand out from the pack. While small and inconspicuous on the outside, Polly’s Cocina is something else on the inside. Walk through the door and you are thrust into a dizzying array of customer photos plastered on almost every visible surface. The effect is charming and just a little bit claustrophobia-inducing, to be honest. After more than two decades in business, however, this family-run establishment is clearly doing something right. Breakfast is served all day, so we enjoyed a plate of scrumptious migas one recent afternoon, coupled with homemade tortillas branded with the Texas A&M logo. We also explored an item not often found menus around these parts: gorditas, made with thick corn masa cakes and stuffed with sausage, egg, and cheese. The filling was a little thin, but we loved the the textures and flavors.
