As previously reported at Eat My Words before it aired, the season premiere of the Travel Channel’s Bizarre Foods was all Austin (and Lockhart), with Andrew Zimmern hitting Kreuz, Lambert’s, Black’s, Contigo, Uchi, Barley Swine, Gordough’s, Dai Due, and many more. 

Zimmern came away from his visit wildly enamored with the state capital’s food scene. 

“Pound for pound, Austin might have the most culinary gravitas in the nation, and I’m serious,” he said. 

Zimmern’s “Top 5” for Austin included his “Barbecue Crawl” (Lambert’s, Kreuz, Smitty’s, Black’s, and Chisholm Trail), two standouts on his “Restaurant Crawl” (Foreign and Domestic, Uchiko), Broken Arrow Ranch, his “Trailer Crawl” (at Loveballs, Pig Vicious and many others) and pigeon and rabbit farmer Sebastien Bonneu of Countryside Farm in Cedar Creek. Watch the video below:
