Locally owned (one of the owners lives a couple of blocks away), Bamboo took over what was previously a Thai spot and shifted the menu to Chinese, with a few other Asian styles offered too. We weren’t particularly impressed with the egg rolls, but the meaty sweet-and-sour barbecue spare ribs and the curry-inflected Singapore noodles with egg, onion, and bean sprouts made us happy. There are also some nice vegetarian options, such as a mapo tofu stir-fry with bamboo shoots and watercress. The light-filled space is spare, with a glitzy open-to-the-sidewalk bar.
