Folks in Harlingen are super happy to have this Hill Country restaurant and market (it has locations in Buda, Dripping Springs, and Wimberley) show up in the Valley. The menu is sophisticated yet casual and the ingredients are top-notch. At lunch look for ibérico chorizo on a grilled pimento cheese sandwich (or ask for a sliver or two of the famed Spanish ham to go). Or you could try a torta with barbacoa, habanero aioli, and gouda on  a bolillo. Dos Olivos also offers a shareable family-style menu with the likes of pork tenderloin (with artichokes and lemon gremolata) and Sticky Chipotle Salmon (a house favorite). The seasonal seared squash with tiny, almost crunchy, gnocchi made a terrific side (ideal for vegan folks). At the front of the restaurant you’ll find the market and a couple of cases of specialty grocery items such as smoked salt, jams and jellies from the Hill Country—and that joint of cured ham.
