Befitting the artful grounds of the Contemporary Austin (Laguna Gloria), this small, minimalist operation has a walk-up window and a few stylish outdoor tables in a gravel courtyard adjacent to the museum shop. The food menu is a more abbreviated version of that of the original location, in Rosedale, but it’s plenty well-rounded. Perfect alfresco fare includes a daily quiche; a grilled cheese sandwich with crusty melted Comté alongside a cup of tomato soup sprinkled with freshly snipped chives; and a gorgeous salad of lightly dressed mixed greens, quinoa, plump pomegranate seeds, slivered almonds, pepitas, and black and white sesame seeds. Finish with a salted chocolate chip cookie or a dense, not-too-sweet shortbread with a veritable blanket of sugar.
