We hit the East Texas jackpot with the Texas Tots appetizer, which were really Texas Tapas, given that the promised humongous cheddar-and-chive-stuffed tots came loaded with bacon on a bed of queso topped with tender brisket. The sweet potato fries are hand cut, and our server assured us that the fried catfish is locally sourced (he “knows a guy”). A friend who still has some growing to do joined us for this outing and he easily finished off the hearty hand-breaded chicken-fried steak, mashed potatoes, and fried okra, as well as two brisket tacos on the side. When we asked him to rate his meal, he simply sat back, smiled, and patted his middle. Check Facebook for occasional closures (like a catering job or New Year’s break).
