Landry’s owner Tilman Fertitta bought this national steakhouse chain in 2013. Its latest link, opened last December, occupies a huge space in Uptown, flaunting classic steakhouse trappings in grand Texas style with shots of Vegas glitz. More festive than serious, Mastro’s bustles with live music and crowds waiting to dine on the coveted terrace, with its alluring water wall. Seafood towers, sashimi presentations, and Hudson Valley foie gras make for splurge beginnings. Chops, seafood, and butter-basted prime steaks, cooked to specification, are handled as carefully as you’d expect at these prices.
