The River Oaks District’s luxury shopping mecca just got a gift in fast-casual, all-day Ojo de Agua, born in Mexico City and boasting a big menu and generous portions of healthful Mexican fare. Much like the food, the space is festive and artistic, with Tulum-style touches such as wall murals and hanging lounge chairs. Chilaquiles with spicy house-made green salsa was a masterpiece, with layers of beans, tomatoes, onions, crema, and poached eggs gorgeously crowned with a whole avocado “flower.” Other hits included lobster tacos garnished with sprouts; an Instagram-worthy fresh fruit bowl with frozen acai pulp; and the ginger and tuna salad with seared tuna steak, avocado, black sesame seeds, and ginger dressing. Salads number fifteen in all, plus there are sandwiches and dozens of beautiful juice drinks and smoothies. Although pricey for the concept, it’s a place we will gladly return to!
