When Papa Perez added fried avocadoes to the menu of its lively downtown restaurant some years ago, the concept was new to Bryan–College Station. Today, even as the delicacy frequents the menus of other area Mexican spots, the Papa Perez version remains the best. On a recent visit, our jumbo-sized avocado was fresh and flavorful, with crisp breading on the outside and a warm filling of cheese and grilled chicken. We also tried another Papa Perez favorite: spicy crawfish enchiladas. The rich cheese and cream sauce smothering the enchiladas was a bit overwhelming for our taste, but the main attraction beneath offered a scrumptious alternative to this Mexican standard.
