This near-Lackland neighborhood has plenty of Thai cafes, and this is the best of the bunch. Airmen, neighbors, Northwest Vista students, and the occasional foodie find their way to the arty little dining room for very good noodle and rice dishes. The pad thai alone will convince you of the kitchen’s skills. No slimy noodles or tough chicken here; the dish is perfectly balanced, just a tad sweet under the spice and decked out with fresh bean sprouts. Curries are good too; the green has notes of Thai basil, lime leaf, and plenty of coconut milk. At night, the menu branches into less familiar territory, with dishes like pad bhet (duck with cabbage and chile sauce) and a whole fried fish topped with cilantro and fish sauce.
