Experience the world-premiere of Huntopia: Bunnies, Birds & Butterflies, the debut garden exhibition from famed artist, Hunt Slonem. On view at the San Antonio Botanical Garden from May 4 – November 3, 2024, families and friends will step into the whimsical world the artist has been creating on canvas for decades.

Inspired by the mythological symbolism of animals, Slonem has become best known for his series of bunnies, butterflies, and tropical birds. These creatures, with their radiant colors and enigmatic presence, serve as a recurring motif in the artist’s work, each meticulously rendered with a touch of whimsy and surrealism.

Showcasing a series of monumental pieces and curated installations throughout the 38 acres, Huntopia combines Slonem’s vibrant artworks with the Garden’s natural beauty. Larger than life sculptures and a joyful, glittering array of show-stopping pieces are created with various mediums, including works featuring tens of thousands of hand-cut, hand-applied pieces of glass.

Huntopia marks a pivotal moment in Slonem’s 50-year career, translating the art luminary’s richly painted canvases into large outdoor sculptures in the natural world for the first time. The exhibition’s debut celebrates the artist’s lifelong dream to create an immersive and grand outdoor sculpture experience and was years in the making.
