ARE YOU GONNA BE THERE (AT THE LOVE-IN)? We know, we know—despite your best intentions, you usually wait until midnight on February 13 to plan your Valentine’s Day, which means you’ll miss the Love Fest parade in Lovelady. If you simply can’t plan ahead, don’t fret: You’ll still have a leisurely 48 hours after the fourteenth to set up a date for Saturday. Option one: Flaco Jimenez brings lovers onto Luckenbach’s wooden dance floor during the Troy King Memorial Hug-In. Option two: Austin’s Paramount Theatre pre-sents “Lone Star Love Songs,” where artists like guitar whiz Steve James, swing-blues pianist Johnny Nicholas, klezmer trio Mark Rubin’s Yiddish Ensemble, and the gospel group the Bells of Joy will perform an eclectic set of love songs by, for, and about Texans. Of course, if nothing else, there’s the old standby: Impress your darlin’ with a card postmarked from a West Texas town that has its own specially designed mark for the occasion. Just send your card of undying affection (with a note requesting the official February 14 mark) to “Postmaster, Valentine, Texas 79854.” (See Austin: Music/Dance and Elsewhere: Other Events.)
