The event will be held Sunday, November 12th at the Longhorn Ballroom in Dallas. If you want to be there, be quick. Although Meat Fight will accommodate more attendees this year (1,500), you’ll probably be lucky to get a ticket at 11:00.
If you’ve never heard of Meat Fight, it might be the most fun you can have while giving to charity. The annual Dallas event raised $175,000 last year alone for MS research. All the proceeds, from ticket sales, merchandise sales, and items auctioned at Meat Fight, go to MS research. Everyone who works the event, even Meat Fight CEO Alice Laussade, does it on a volunteer basis, which is why they’re able to raise so much money while feeding everyone delicious barbecue.
At its heart, Meat Fight is a barbecue competition, except none of the competitors are pitmasters. The pitmasters (and WFAA meteorologist Pete Delkus) are the judges, while Dallas-area chefs form teams for the competition. This year it’s bigger than ever with 20 chefs competing on five teams. Meat Fight attendees will get the opportunity to eat every competition meat submitted for judging. A Sweet Fight for dessert entries will also be added this year. That’s a total of 20 meats and 9 sweets. Come hungry.
Tickets are $135 for General Admission, which allow entry at 6:00pm, and $235 for VIP, which get in at 5:00pm. A General Admission ticket gets you all Meat Fight and Sweet Fight entries, beer from TUPPS and Four Corners Brewery, Whiskey tastes from WhistlePig Rye Whiskey, treats from Noble Coyote Coffee and T-Rex Pickles, access to Meat Santa, meat caricatures, and all the fun that is Meat Fight.
A VIP ticket gets you everything above, plus access to the VIP section which includes: a separate beer station, separate WhistlePig station, and The Side Show featuring 9 more fancy Dallas chefs fighting for meaty trophies. VIP ticket holders also get a swag bag filled with goodies from event sponsors and legit Meat Fight merchandise. All attendees will be there for the live auction featuring amazing can’t-get-them-anywhere-else barbecue-themed items. Get your tickets starting at 10:00am.
