Nestled in the Post Houston live/work/eat development, on the first floor of the former Barbara Jordan Post Office, the lauded Golfstrømmen (“Gulf Stream” in Norwegian) is a sustainable-seafood eatery and market from partners Christopher Haatuft, a super-chef from Norway, and Texas chef Paul Qui, the co-founder of East Side King. The kitchen showcases the Gulf’s freshest catch and select imports in inventive dishes with a Nordic bent. Best bets: the snitter, an open-faced, toasted sandwich piled with luscious seafood salad; the sea-fresh ceviche, exuberant with horseradish; and oysters on the half-shell. Make sure to peruse the impressive menu of boutique wines selected to pair with the seafood. Besides the bustling indoor food court seating, there’s a covered patio on one side of the massive renovated space.
