Fortunately, new ownership here means keeping traditions alive. Sunland Park Mall may be suffering from wear and tear, but its prize restaurant, is still going and offering a little bit of nostalgia with every bite. It opened at the then-new mall in 1988 and quickly became known for items like wood-oven pizzas and made-from-scratch baked goods (especially the zucchini muffin). The menu has some new items, but purists will be comforted by the onion soup au gratin, the seafood queso, and the Southwestern fettucine Alfredo. Vegan and vegetarian items are plentiful, and salads are huge, especially the Caesar with roasted red peppers.
