As always, this well-kept secret on the north side of town pleases with freshly made homestyle dishes. Queso flameado is the perfect opener, the hot asadero cheese studded with chorizo and great for forking into hot tortillas. Dark and velvety mole smothering a chicken leg quarter is a foolproof option, as is the guisado de res, a generous portion of tender beef tips in brick-red chile sauce. Our hands-down favorite remains the enchiladas verdes, corn tortillas stuffed with shredded chicken and topped with tart tomatillo sauce and grated Oaxaca cheese. Friday nights may find a mariachi band stopping by as it winds through restaurants in the neighborhood
