In the up-and-coming Spring Branch neighborhood, MasterChef winner Christine Hà celebrates her love of sandwiches in a little shop and drive-through right next door to her popular Blind Goat. The concise menu proffers comforting classics that Hà grew up eating, including hot and cold all-American combos such as the Tuna Crunch, with white albacore and crumbled potato chips. The Humpty Dumpty Egg’wich is crustless Texas toast layered with tart and creamy egg salad made with lemon, scallions, and Dijon and yellow mustard. For something hot and hearty, the buttermilk fried chicken is moistened with Sichuan mayo, and the gooey grilled cheese is brightened with tomato confit. Hà’s crispy-edged smashburger, with the classic formula of pickles, melted American cheese, caramelized onions, and tangy “Stuffed Sauce” on a toasted potato bun, has quickly become a favorite (but note that the hot sandwiches don’t travel well, so plan to eat those onsite). Keeping the rest of the menu simple, there are kid’s options, tater tot sides, and local Pudgy’s Fine Cookies for dessert.
