New to the bustling Ross-Greenville zone, this traditional Mexican restaurant is a stylish reincarnation of the humble West Dallas original. The ample menu includes the usual enchiladas, tacos, and meaty entrées, as well as ceviches and tlayudas. We enjoyed everything we tried, right down to the rice and refried beans on the platters. Order this to go: The generously sized Ceviche Fino was a zesty meld of diced red snapper, tomato, serrano chile, red onion, lime, and house-made mayo, topped with avocado (and an orchid blossom). The tasty Texano tacos boasted house-made corn tortillas cradling tender shredded brisket and asadero cheese; three addictive salsas accompanied the platter. A complex, chocolatey mole blanketed the Mexicanas (chicken enchiladas). Don’t miss the pastel de elote, a dense, moist corn cake soaked in rompope. Pro tip: You could make a meal out of starters. The Oaxaca dip—mozzarella, cheddar, and asadero cheeses studded with shredded brisket, spinach, corn, and chiles—travels well; leftovers reheat beautifully too.
