Granted, it’s not the original, famously funky Thai-Kun food trailer. But visitors to the massive upscale Domain retail and residential village can grab a bite and a drink at the brick-and-mortar edition on the Rock Rose restaurant row while gaining strength for their next purchase. Sit on the colorful patio outside or at a booth in the small, nicely designed interior (or at the counter, to observe some fiery wok action). Yes, there is pad thai (your mom will be happy), but why not have fun with garlicky chive cakes (steamed and fried rice-flour squares), which come very nearly drenched in sweet-sour soy sauce? Or go for a special like excellent raw slices of Ora King salmon tricked out with bits of crispy salmon skin in a dynamite lime/vinegar/fish sauce. Other choices on the not-too-lengthy menu include fried chicken with chicken-fat rice and the Thai classic larb (ground pork with cabbage, cucumber, and mint). NB: if a dish is marked “spicy” here, pay attention.
