Honky Tonk Holiday
Now, I am not one to claim that dance halls are fine dining establishments, but they are part of what makes a holiday ring true for this Texan. Somehow I always seem to make my way to a honky tonk over the holidays, even if it’s been 12 months since the last visit. About a week ago, purveyor Ben E. Keith added a handsome spread at John T. Floores in Helotes. Trucked in or no, this was a feast worth the fandango. And, the tunes, the toe tapping, the old boots hanging from the ceiling reminded me how happy I was to live in the Hill Country, where stars are bright and the snows are, mostly at least, a matter of some soap flakes on the windows.
